About me
I'm Patty Braun, a trained dancer, and from a young age, I've been fascinated by the human body and how it moves, recovers, and performs. My background in dance has taught me the importance of taking good care of your body. Not only to prevent injuries, but also to feel vital and energetic. That passion and knowledge form the foundation of my work as a sports massage therapist.
What is sports massage?
Sports massage is much more than just a firm massage for top athletes. In today's society, where we often sit for long periods, experience stress, or exercise intensely, our bodies endure a great deal. This can cause muscles to tense up, waste products to accumulate, and the recovery process to slow down.
Using specific massage techniques, sports massage helps muscles drain, relax, and improve blood circulation. This not only promotes recovery after exercise but also reduces pain and stiffness and improves overall mobility.

What is the difference between sports massage and physiotherapy?
The difference lies in the purpose and authority of the practitioner.
Sports massage focuses on maintaining the body, preventing injuries and supporting recovery after exertion.
A sports masseur does not make diagnoses and does not perform medical treatments.
Physiotherapy focuses on treating injuries or complaints and is performed by a BIG-registered healthcare provider.
A physiotherapist may make medical diagnoses and implement specific treatment plans.

A physiotherapist treats injuries and medical complaints.
Does a sports massage hurt?
A sports massage can sometimes feel firm, especially if muscles are tense or tired.
This doesn't mean it has to be painful. The massage should remain comfortable and effective.

How do I prepare for a sports massage?
A few tips to get the most out of your session:
Do not eat a heavy meal immediately before the treatment.
Drink plenty of water before and after the massage.
Wear comfortable clothing (preferably sportswear).
Please arrive a few minutes early so you can start in a relaxed manner.
Please inform us in advance if you have any injuries, pain or medical conditions.
What should I do after the sports massage?
After a sports massage it is important to give your body time to recover:
Drink extra water to flush out toxins.
Take it easy for the rest of the day.
Avoid strenuous exercise immediately after treatment.
Mild muscle soreness the next day is normal and usually goes away on its own.
Regular sports massage helps your body recover better and prevent complaints.
Who is sports massage suitable for?

Can I get a sports massage if I have complaints?

Sports massage can be helpful for mild muscle fatigue or stiffness.
However, in case of acute injuries, inflammation, fever or medical conditions, it is better to first contact a doctor or physiotherapist.
- During the intake interview it is always discussed whether a massage is suitable at that time.
How often is a sports massage recommended?
This varies per person and activity:
For active athletes: often once every 1 to 2 weeks.
For relaxation and maintenance: once a month is usually sufficient.
Regularity produces the best results — prevention is better than cure.

No medical diagnoses are made, and no injuries or illnesses are treated. A sports massage does not replace treatment by a doctor, physiotherapist, or other medical specialist. I have completed the Sports Massage training through the NHA (Dutch Association for Sports Massage) in accordance with the guidelines of the Dutch Society for Sports Massage. Upon completion of the exam, this will be supplemented with official NGS registration. Receiving a massage is the client's own responsibility.

Personal data you provide (such as name, phone number, and email address) will be used solely to schedule appointments and contact you about treatments. 1. Appointments & Cancellation: Appointments can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours in advance. If cancelled too late, the full rate will be charged.
2. Payment: Payment is made immediately after the treatment via debit card/tikkie.
3. Health: The client is responsible for providing complete and accurate medical information. If you have any doubts about the suitability of a massage, it is recommended to contact a doctor.
4. Liability: Sports Massage Practice Patty Braun is not liable for damage resulting from incorrect or incomplete information provided by the client, or the concealment of medical complaints.
